This lovely piece, Ligature, Loop & Stem Poster, is something that I should be on a wall in my future office in my future house. Too bad it’s sold :(
It would be nice to not look up something on the internet (stop SOPA and PIPA, Americans. I can’t believe that these bills went to Senate in the first place) or in a book, just look on the wall and boom! “So that’s what that thingy on that character is called!!!” Gadzook… that’s what it’s called.
This was printed beautifully btw.

Yeah, you can make it yourself. A cool DIY project. Frankly, I would be too scared to do this for fear I might electrocute myself.
This book, Make It! Hardware Store Decor by Curbly, will give you the step-by-step on how to put this “letter light” together.
It’s cool tho. Trés cool.

Nope. It’s not a new club called “Storage”. It’s called The Museum of Letters in Berlin also known as Buchstabenmuseum.
They need something like this in Vancouver for the design community. Many would appreciate this kind of museum. You know why? Because it’s cool… I mean, who doesn’t like signage and retro/old letters? How will know where that cool store is on Granville? :P

Berlin people are lucky folk.

Daily Drop Cap used to be on Tumblr and moved awhile ago. I didn’t know that until I started to wonder “where the heck happened to Daily Drop Cap?”. Yeah. Where was I? Watching Canucks playoff games.
But anyway, above is the last letter as this series ends and the typographer and illustrator Jessica Hische moves on to bigger and better projects. The site (and the Tumblr one) will be up and running to inspire all. Thanks for these lovely designs, Jessica!

FREAKIN’ FREEHAND!!! That’s skillzzzzz and I love the description from where I lifted this video:

Italian Calligrapher Luca Barcellona gives your favorite computer generated type tool the finger and shows us how he creates amazing freehand type in this amazing video.

Legacy of Letters from Luca Barcellona on Vimeo.

First video on Beautiful Type !! -> Putting Back the Face into Typeface with Mr Erik Spiekermann…

The track is pretty dope, too. I miss Mos Def.

Even though it’s all just text, I think this video is real dope. This is an animation created by Mario Troise for the song Mathematics by Mos Def, which was released in 1999. There are 361 animated words and tons of layers, but the visual is minimal.

It would be nice to have a Periodic Table of Typefaces. I would put that on my bare walls.

I love this song but this video gave me seizures. Interesting beginning and ending with the typography.

Aside from origami, it’s amazing what you can do with paper. The physicality and the mechanics of it all, what you can create with it and on it. The different textures evoke a feel, not what’s on it.
Anyway, isn’t this cool?? Wonderful paper art of typography by Russian-based Yulia Brodskaya.

A self-promo from Messy Design.
Brilliant. It’s definitely a piece that I would look through and study. Messy details the challenges and the final product(s) on FPO. Check out more details at FPO.
It’s so true tho:

You wouldn’t do it to your face, so why would it to a typeface?
