What a great redesign concept for movie posters! It uses a recognizable menswear piece in each movie. See the entire collection here.
Love the Anchor Man and Top Gun posters. Too bad the aviators weren’t in the latter. “I feel the need… for speed!”
EveryGuyed presented them and they are designed by Moxy Creative illustrated by James Alexander Mathers and Andrew Lau.

This lovely piece, Ligature, Loop & Stem Poster, is something that I should be on a wall in my future office in my future house. Too bad it’s sold :(
It would be nice to not look up something on the internet (stop SOPA and PIPA, Americans. I can’t believe that these bills went to Senate in the first place) or in a book, just look on the wall and boom! “So that’s what that thingy on that character is called!!!” Gadzook… that’s what it’s called.
This was printed beautifully btw.

INFLUENCERS is a short documentary that explores what it means to be an influencer and how trends & creativity become contagious today in music and fashion.

Directed by Paul Rojanathara and Davis Johnson, the film is a Polaroid snapshot of New York influential creatives (advertising, design, fashion and entertainment) who are shaping today’s pop culture.

I totally agree that Jay-Z is definitely an Influencer and I refuse to agree that Kanye is part of this group because of his ego trip. Yeah, I said it.

Three things crossed my mind when I first saw these images in various locations in the blogosphere: curiosity, freak out, then amazement.
Curiosity: what is this standing here? is this thing real?…

Just as you are about to touch it, the subject actually moves to reveal that it’s an actual person who got painted by Alexa Meade (painting portraits on actual people), you would…
Freak out: WTH?! OMG! *jump back*

once your heart stops racing from being absolutely surprised, you look at this concept with…
Amazement: like that photo below, you would naturally smile because it’s looks, for lack of a better word, cool. Then curiosity sets in again, you’d want to take a closer look.

So Justin Timberlake bought MySpace. And this was after they did a somewhat rebrand.
IMO, I think the rebrand was clever. It’s pretty much open ended to whoever is still on this site. Aaaand, that’s all I really want to talk about it. Here’s more info about the identity crisis (as they put it in the article) here.
I’ve never had a MySpace account; I thought it was more beneficial for musical artists and I’m far from being musical. I had a brief stint with my high school’s glee club (waaaaaaaaaaaay before Glee ever came to be and that admission tells you how old I am). I play the piano… that’s it. Musical abilities end there.
Anyway, let’s see if Mr. Sexy Back can help the troubled MySpace in the grand social media world in the next coming months… maybe years?

You know you want a sundae. That’s a given. But what kind of sauce do you want on it? That’s the question.
It’s like the UK design firm, Nelson Associates, thought, “People know it’s a sundae… it’s ice cream… you know what it looks like but what makes it a yummy gooey sundae is the saaauuuucceee….”.

Pretty damn simple except now I don’t know which one to choose: toffee or chocolate.

I realize you need to be creative and stand out from the crowd but this just goes beyond wrong in so many ways.
Behold, the Durex business card for the Head of Production. Can you guess what the stuff is? C’mon. I dare ya.

A Post-It animation as part of the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase 2010.

Brilliant and talented people with a lot of time on their hands (or maybe not). It’s still awesome. I can’t believe that they get paid to do this kind of stuff.

No one really looks at the profiles of those famous people on the back/front of any coin. I know I don’t. I don’t care what Queen Elizabeth II looks like in her hay days on the back of the coin.
But Israeli-based designer Idan Friedman’s design takes on the extra careful, extra detail of profiles of ordinary people and recreates then onto… aluminum trays. Amazing!

I’m a sucker for “best (insert number here) of (insert year here)” series. Or Top whatever of the month. Funny enough, I’m not really into David Letterman’s Top 10. Are they good? I should figure that out myself.
Anyway, here are the best 60 business cards of 2010 from Francesco Mugnai. He broke it up into categories, too. So very organized! (I know I’m late but this is a good compilation of cards!)
