No more written down grocery lists for people who want this. When you’re running out or finished a food item, Hiku scans the barcode and it immediately lists the item to your phone through Wi-fi. You can also speak to the Hiku and it goes straight to your phone!!
Just make sure your kiddies don’t get their hands on this device… they’ll want everything i.e. candy.

Along the lines of my last post regarding “wasting” paper (but not really, just admiring wonderful art), that wall is made out of magazines.

Designed by Swedish architects Elding Oscarson, they bunched up some old magazines and fashioned a wall out of them. The structural consultant must have been working hard on this one.
I should have shipped boxes and boxes of my old magazines to them. It would be put into good use!! Not that recycling doesn’t do that, but you know what I mean, right? Right?

I don’t know if environmentalist will have a field day for this. You know, “wasting” paper. However, this installation is something to admire.
From the site:

This Turkish artist, Sakir Gökcebag, who is based in Hamburg, has an installation project, Trans-Layers, with toilet rolls sprawled across walls and dangling down from ceilings with pretty grand results.

This feels soft and elegant. Maybe that’s why there’s the Toilet Paper Wedding Dress game at bridal showers. I wonder which toilet paper he used.

Nowadays, it’s not that easy to get that house with a large backyard for your golden retriever and kids to run around while your hubby (or wifey - hey we know how to grill, too) cooks something on the BBQ or just random gardening. This is basically a long shot in Vancouver now that it’s the most expensive city in North America (thanks for that… I don’t mean that as compliment).
Yet, a girl can still dream, as I affix all things house-related in a mood board that will hopefully turned into a reality at some point.
To sum up: I want this bench. This is one of the furnitures in the Hopper Furniture Collection, part of the Extremis Home catalogue by Dirk Wynants. This Belgian designer’s mission is to create “tools of togetherness”… bring value to the product, not just make it pretty.
If value means putting the grill as part of the bench where I don’t have to get up to get more meat, then I’m all for it. That is why I like Shabusen: all-you-can-eat Japanese and Korean foods (mainly sushi and meat, that’s all you need)

Instead of the ordinary way of displaying shoes, check this out.
Ta-da! Functionally beautiful. Smart, smart, smart. Aside from just showing the shoe to the salesperson, you can just tell them the number!
This wall of sneakers/kicks is at Sneakerology and Streetology at Westfield Sydney, Australia brought to by Facet Studio.
I bet kick lovers are drooling right now hoping they can do something similar instead of a plain ol’ walk-in closet for the shoes.

Winter ain’t over yet in Vancouver. It’s a bit chilly still (well, in the single digits above 0) but I’m digging this versatile knitted sweater vest.

Best name ever: Humperdink
It’s a doorstop, by the way, and doesn’t he look like Frozone from The Incredibles?

What a great redesign concept for movie posters! It uses a recognizable menswear piece in each movie. See the entire collection here.
Love the Anchor Man and Top Gun posters. Too bad the aviators weren’t in the latter. “I feel the need… for speed!”
EveryGuyed presented them and they are designed by Moxy Creative illustrated by James Alexander Mathers and Andrew Lau.

This lovely piece, Ligature, Loop & Stem Poster, is something that I should be on a wall in my future office in my future house. Too bad it’s sold :(
It would be nice to not look up something on the internet (stop SOPA and PIPA, Americans. I can’t believe that these bills went to Senate in the first place) or in a book, just look on the wall and boom! “So that’s what that thingy on that character is called!!!” Gadzook… that’s what it’s called.
This was printed beautifully btw.

INFLUENCERS is a short documentary that explores what it means to be an influencer and how trends & creativity become contagious today in music and fashion.

Directed by Paul Rojanathara and Davis Johnson, the film is a Polaroid snapshot of New York influential creatives (advertising, design, fashion and entertainment) who are shaping today’s pop culture.

I totally agree that Jay-Z is definitely an Influencer and I refuse to agree that Kanye is part of this group because of his ego trip. Yeah, I said it.

Every designer in any industry should know how ink is made.

Now you know. And knowing is half the battle. Yo Joe.

Can’t find your cell? No one is there to call your cell? Look no further. If you got internet access, go to www.icantfindmyphone.com.
You can use it if you don’t live in the US, too! Nice touch.

I don’t have cable and I rarely watch shows on the computer anymore. For some reason, I just stopped, been busy. Anyway, I had no idea that Jon Stewart (bless him) did pieces about the Boston Bruins or just NHL-related news in general. He does a good job at pointing out faults and well, he has video evidence.

It’s not all Jon Stewart. The YouTube person added some other things especially at the 9:30 mark, an actual Boston Bruin fan called in our local sports radio, Team 1040, here in Vancouver, gave a rant about the Canucks, and “yelled” about the greatness about the “BEAR(!!!!!)” a couple of days after the Jan 7th game. I listened to that exact podcast and the dude went on for 5 minutes… it was ridiculous. Tell me who would make that long distance call? Idiotic.

This video is bloody brilliant.

**Update: Yes, I know it’s edited, and yes, I know it’s a parody, that’s pretty much what the Daily Show is about (as well as other late night shows). If you want this video to die, then don’t reblog or comment on posts like this. TY for the comments tho**
